HERE WE GO AGAIN…

For reasons that are still unclear to me, I have voluntarily signed up for the Variety Postie Charity Bike Dash for the 5th year in a row. At this point, it’s no longer a challenge; It’s a cry for help.

So… what is the Postie Dash?

It’s basically 80–90 adults making the best life choices on riding a postie carrying tools and fuel instead of mail, all in the name of raising money for Variety. Apparently, nobody involved thought this needed further discussion.

What exactly is a “postie bike”?

As the name suggests, it’s the little bike traditionally ridden by your friendly neighbourhood postie.  Mine is a Honda NBC 110cc. And before anyone asks… It’s ONE HUNDRED AND TEN. The same number of cc’s that could probably be found in a decent blender. 😂

How long?

6 days — 1–6 November 2026.

We will ride regardless of the weather.

Sunny? Ride. Rain? Ride. -1°C? Ride. 40°C+? Ride. Bad road conditions? Ride. Questionable mental health? Definitely ride.

How far?

Approximately 1,400km. Give or take. Mostly depending on how many times I miss a turn and pretend I was “just taking the scenic route.”

Where?

🏍️ Day 1 | 1 Nov: Tamworth → Bundarra → Glen Innes
🏍️ Day 2 | 2 Nov: Glen Innes → Dalmorton → Yamba
🏍️ Day 3 | 3 Nov: Yamba → Lismore
🏍️ Day 4 | 4 Nov: Lismore → Tabulam → Tenterfield
🏍️ Day 5 | 5 Nov: Tenterfield → Ashford → Inverell
🏍️ Day 6 | 6 Nov: Inverell → Tamworth

Why am I doing this?

Because Variety – the Children’s Charity does something genuinely important and very close to my heart. They support children who are sick, living with disability or doing it tough.

Will I fall off?

Well… Let's look at the evidence.

2024: Plunged into a gigantic muddy puddle.

2025: Wiped out right in front of the cameras.

Because if you're going to fall off a motorbike, you might as well make sure there's photographic evidence. I've put some of the photos in my gallery. And before you ask…

Unfortunately, I actually am this talented. 🤣

And this year?

My goals are simple:

1. Raise lots of money.
2. Keep the rubber side down.
3. Avoid large bodies of mud.
4. Avoid becoming a viral video.
5. Remember which direction I'm supposed to be going.

Every donation will help kids doing it tough. I’m paying for my own accommodation, meals, parts and Voltaren tablets etc…

Well… It won't make the seat any softer. It won't make the bike any faster. And it definitely won't stop me falling off.
