All you need to know about the 2026 Variety Postie Bike Dash

Where we are going?

Get ready for an unforgettable adventure as the 2026 Variety Postie Bike Dash takes you on a spectacular journey through regional NSW, all on your your humble but legendary postie bike.

Starting and finishing in Tamworth, the country music capital of Australia, this year’s route delivers the perfect mix of country backroads, mountain ranges, coastal cruising and regional hospitality.

Where the 2026 route will take you

The adventure begins in Tamworth before heading north through the beautiful New England countryside to the historic highland town of Glen Innes.

From there, you'll descend the dramatic slopes of the Great Dividing Range, following Old Glen Innes Road alongside the Boyd River and passing through the famous Dalmorton Tunnel, before trading cool tablelands for salty sea air in the coastal paradise of Yamba.

After soaking up the ocean views, head inland through lush hinterland to the vibrant regional centre of Lismore and enjoy a half-day break off the bikes to celebrate Melbourne Cup Day.

From Lismore, climb back toward rugged border country taking on Rocky River Road, an iconic motorbike route that follows the spectacular Timbarra River through to the historic federation town of Tenterfield.

The adventure continues across the sweeping landscapes of the New England region to Inverell, before the final leg brings you full circle back to Tamworth.

What to wear

  • All riders must have appropriate riding gear including helmet, pants, jacket and gloves as essential items.
  • You need to wear good riding gear. We recommend you bring some items for colder or wet conditions and others for when conditions are warmer because weather conditions can vary drastically and unfortunately things don’t always go to plan.
