add remove

Our fees are divided into two types:

  1. The Entry Fee is your fundraising minimum fee and is fully tax-deductible. Each bike entry needs to raise a minimum of $2500 in order to take part in the Variety Postie Bike Dash. A holding deposit of $500 is required on entry to secure your place. This must be paid to Variety 2 months prior to the start of the event. The deposit is a non-refundable donation.
  2. Your Provisions Fee covers all mandatory meals for the event except where stated as well as selected safety wear, merchandise, signage and support services during the event. As an as an example, the 2024 Provisions Fee was $620 inc GST. The 2025 Provisions Fee will be confirmed closer to the event as all event logistics are confirmed.

Additional costs such as fuel, accommodation, potential mechanical repairs, refreshments, and other out-of-pocket expenses are at your own expense.

Do you take payments other than credit card?

Absolutely! We accommodate bank transfers and invoices as well as credit cards. You can find all the relevant information on this Payment Information Sheet. Reach out to our Motoring Events Team at motoringevents@varietynsw.org.au and we can chat about what payment method works best for you.

How does fundraising work?

add remove

Funds can be raised by you through a lot of different ways. You can seek sponsorship, hold functions, raffles, auctions, or request donations direct to your Variety Postie Bike Dash fundraising page. All money is given to and officially receipted by Variety.

Sponsors should be aware that their donations will directly assist kids and emphasise that you and your team are meeting the cost of preparing and running your bike and other related expenses.

You can add stickers and custom paintwork to acknowledge your sponsors to your bike. We can provide Thank You certificates to acknowledge your sponsors.

How will I know where to go each day on the Postie Bike Dash?

add remove

The Dash organising team do several surveys of the event prior to the official start to set the route and make all the arrangements. On the day, our Setup team will head out early to check the roads and signpost our planned route. All riders will also be provided with written route instructions so you can review each day’s route the night before to check for KM distances, fuel availability and what conditions are to be expected.

Never leave the Dash route without telling someone, preferably an Official. The Dash is well serviced with Officials who check you out at the start and at the completion of a section. If you don’t come through the finishing CheckPoint and our “Sweep” (last Official in) has not seen you, then we will commence a search and rescue plan. You will be liable for any charges if it proves to be a false alarm.

What are your rules regarding road rules on the Postie Bike Dash?

add remove

The Postie Bike Dash is allowed to run because we adhere to the road rules of the given states we travel through. We have no dispensation to break any existing road rule set by the police or the state’s ruling body, i.e., Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) in NSW.

What support vehicles will be on the 2025 Variety Postie Bike Dash?

add remove

Mechanical Workshops

Travelling with the Dash are Mobile Workshops (MWs) crewed by qualified and experienced mechanics, engineers and technicians whose job it is to look after all Postie Bikes taking part in the Dash.

If you were to break down on a Dash route, one of our MWs will most likely carry out a minor repair to keep you going. They will carry tyre tubes and other parts known to cause issues on Honda Postie Bikes as well as the tools needed to fix such issues. Worse case, we can load your bike on a trailer and you into a support vehicle to reach the next overnight stop where your bike can be worked on by the MW team.

Bike still running but not as well as it usually does? We make it known where you can find our MWs at the end of each day and it’s not unusual to see a group of bikes in pieces in the motel car park each afternoon but 99.9% of the time, we’ll have you back on the road the next morning to enjoy another day of riding your Postie on dirt roads with your new mates.

We guarantee, if we can’t get you going, we’ll get you and your bike to the next overnight town and assess the situation then. Individual support vehicles are not allowed on the Dash, however, spare parts can be carried on the official baggage truck which can be accessed each afternoon at our overnight stops.

For any spare parts supplied by our MWs, all entrants are required to reimburse the mechanics for items used.

Medical Crew

The Variety Postie Bike Dash carries NSW Ambulance trained Paramedics during the 6 day event. Our Medics travel the route each day to provide all riders with any required medical attention. They are also accessible when we reach town each afternoon if you have any niggles, scrapes, grazes etc that need some attention.

Baggage Crew

Thanks to the team at Australia Post, we are supplied with two baggage vehicles to move your bags from town to town as no one is to carry baggage with them on the event. This keeps your weight down and helps you to manoeuvre your motorbike much more easily in the rough terrain sections. Your personal items like phone and wallet, plus the highly recommended items listed above, can be carried in your rear container.

Why do I need a Working with Children's Check (WWCC)?

add remove

As we visit lots of wonderful schools along our Postie Bike Dash route, and we want to ensure the safety of the children we work so hard to support, we require all Dash participants to have a valid Working With Children’s Check (WWCC) or their state’s equivalent.

This is available free of charge and can be applied for online. Once your application is submitted you will be required to take your application number to a Service NSW outlet who will then email your WWCC to you. For any queries regarding this please contact us on 02 4965 4911.

If you reside outside NSW, you may apply for your state’s equivalent check e.g. Blue Card in Queensland, Working with Vulnerable People in ACT.
