Variety – the Children’s Charity supports kids and families who are facing many challenges through sickness, disadvantage or living with a disability.

How We Help

Our work allows kids to gain mobility, to get out and about in the community, to communicate, achieve independence and increase their self-esteem. We make sure the kids who miss out, can always join in.

Individual Grants

We support children and families facing challenges by providing practical equipment and resources that make everyday life easier. This may include mobility equipment, communication devices, learning aids, technology and other supports that help kids live, learn and play more independently.

Programs

We deliver outreach services, inclusive programs and school initiatives that build confidence, skills and belonging, while promoting disability awareness and inclusion in our community.

Scholarships

Variety Heart Scholarships help children and young people aged 8–18 follow their dreams in sport or the arts. We support kids living with disability, chronic illness, financial hardship or in regional areas by helping cover the costs that might otherwise stand in the way.

Kids' Experiences

Variety Kids’ Experiences give children facing disability, disadvantage or hardship the chance to enjoy special activities and events they may not otherwise have access to — creating moments of fun, connection and unforgettable memories.

Real Impact for Families

With the support of our donors and partners, we ensure children have the best opportunity to live life to the fullest regardless of ability or background.

Below are some of the ways we have granted support to kids in need this year.

67 Kids

Flying Start Paediatric Service
Bringing specialist healthcare closer to home. This year 67 children in remote communities accessed paediatric care, reducing travel, easing financial pressure and helping families access pathways to long-term support and diagnosis.

38,331 Kids

Just Like You Program
Creating more inclusive classrooms by helping students understand visible and invisible disabilities, building empathy, acceptance and a stronger sense of belonging.

98 Kids

Therapy Grants
Helping children access speech therapy, psychology and occupational therapy support that may otherwise be out of reach, giving families the opportunity to improve development, wellbeing and school participation.

Supporting Regional Communities and Schools

Bashers had the honour of presenting a cheque of $4,807 for sensory and play equipment, alongside a much-needed Sunshine Coach to Kalinda School in Griffith.

Thanks to the tireless fundraising of our Bashers, we were able to improve students access to the great learning opportunities the community has to offer. 

Watching the joy on their faces a moment none of us will ever forget.
