It's a go for the 2026 Variety Backyard Bash!

In August, I'll be teaming up with 2 of my best mates in a 6-day fundraising event called the “2026 Variety Backyard Bash” being run by Variety – the Children’s Charity organisation NSW/ACT. 

The three of us will be participating as a team called "Car 2430 - Team Taree", where we hope to hit our fundraising goal of $4,000. So we need your help to get there!

It's shaping up to be an epic journey, where we'll drive across regional NSW in an old 1964 EH Holden. We start from Bella Vista and finish in Bathurst. But it's definitely not a day trip! 

The Variety Bash will take us through some of the most welcoming regional communities in country NSW. Over the 6 days, we'll be stopping into schools and organisations to see first-hand the benefits of our fundraising efforts, where a range of vital educational, health and mobility equipment will be donated and presented to these rural schools and organisations enroute.

The Variety Charity is also close to my heart on a personal level, where back in January 2022 my daughter, Ruby was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She was treated by the wonderful team at the Children's Hospital Westmead NSW. Over the course of Ruby's hospital admission my wife, Laurie Walker and I spent many weeks to months with Ruby in one of the Children's hospital wards called the " Variety Ward". This children's ward was named after the Variety organisation, as recognition of their donations and vital support for the Hospital.
