Everything you need to know about the 2026 Variety B to B Bash
Where We're Going
Get ready for an unforgettable journey through the heart of Australia!
Our 2026 adventure begins at Bella Vista in Sydney and takes us all the way to the Top End, finishing at Berry Springs, just south of Darwin. Over 11 incredible days, we’ll travel more than 5,000 kilometres through NSW, QLD and the NT, visiting schools, meeting communities and experiencing the magic of the Australian outback along the way.
It all kicks off on Sunday 9 August 2026 at Bella Vista, where we’ll combine our traditional Family Fun Day with the start of the Bash. It’s the perfect setting to celebrate with Bash families, the public and media before we hit the open road.
From Sydney, we’ll head north and inland through regional New South Wales and Queensland, before taking on some of the country’s most iconic and remote outback routes. One of the highlights will be travelling the legendary Plenty Highway - a true red-dirt adventure that captures the raw beauty and vastness of the Australian desert.
We’ll stay at the iconic Tobermorey Station, a sprawling 1.8 million-acre working cattle property that gives a genuine taste of life on the land. This stop is sure to be a favourite and will be the location for the Santorini Sunset Party.
We’ll join the locals and visitors for the famous Henley on Todd Regatta in Alice Springs, the only dry river regatta in the world - complete with bottomless boats, sand flying, and plenty of laughs.
Our journey continues north through the Territory, where we’ll enjoy the Katherine Outback Experience - an authentic showcase of bush life, horsemanship, working dogs and live music. From there, we’ll roll on to Berry Springs, where we’ll celebrate our arrival and the incredible impact made along the way at the 2026 Gala Nights.
Throughout our adventure, we’ll visit remote schools and communities in Denman, Moree, Morven, Stonehenge, Boulia, Jervois Station, Barrow Creek, Elliott, and Adelaide River, delivering life-changing grants and sharing the joy of Variety with kids and communities across the country.
This is more than a road trip — it’s a true outback odyssey. Expect red dirt, big skies, plenty of laughter, and memories that will stay with you forever.

What it Takes to be a Basher
- A desire for adventure, a joy of driving and a tolerance to dust!
- A sense of humour and curious spirit.
- A wish to give back to kids and community groups in remote locations.
- All entrants must be over 18 years of age.
Cost of Entry
- The Variety B to B Bash is all about adventure, mateship and making a difference. Every car commits to raising a minimum of $8,500 in donations. New to the Bash? We’re offering you 50% off the minimum donation amount to take part - that’s $4,250! All donations over $2 are fully tax-deductible and go directly towards helping kids who are sick, disadvantaged or living with a disability.
- A $500 non-refundable donation is required on registration to secure your place. Minimum donation amounts must be paid to Variety 3 months prior to the start of the Bash.
- A provision fee is confirmed closer to the event, covering breakfast, lunch, and dinner on most days, except where stated, plus selected merchandise, car signage, photography, videography, and entertainment during the Bash.
What is a Bash Car?
- Bash cars are as unique and colourful as the people who drive them! To take part, cars must be at least 25 years old, in good condition, and tough enough to tackle rough dirt roads. Classic 4WDs are also welcome, as long as they're 30 years or older.
- All cars must be roadworthy, registered and insured as prescribed by State laws.
- Struggling to find a car that meets requirements? You could apply to bring a more modern 4WD, simply reach out to the Motoring Events Team to discuss - note this will increase the minimum donation required to enter to $17,000.
Accommodation
- Entrants are required to book their own accommodation at the towns and nights indicated on the route. There are a range of accommodation styles to suit everyone's tastes and budgets.
- In some towns accommodation can be limited and availability is not guaranteed.
- In smaller locations you may be swagging or under the stars!
Fundraising
- The Bash is a celebration of a year's fundraising and once registered you will have access to a range of fundraising tools to help you reach your target.
- All Bash entrants must raise a minimum fundraising donation per car of $8,500 to participate in the Variety B to B Bash.
- We offer a 50% discount on the minimum donation for first time entrants - $4,250.
- Bashers get to see the direct impact of fundraising efforts, with a range of grants provided to local schools and organisations along the way.
What keeps me and my team coming back? The incredible impact on the kids and local communities, of course!”
