I'm getting out on the road for kids in need!
Hi there, my name is Mel Spikes and I am a solo Sydney angler and Variety basher with a growing online presence aimed at inspiring and educating the community to get outdoors and enjoy the sport of fishing and exploring Australia.
Since 2018, I have been involved in Variety, The Children's Charity. My favourite event is the annual B to B Bash where around 100 cars and approximately 300 people get together and travel for 10 days across Australia raising much need funds for sick and disadvantaged Aussie Kids and their families where the government can’t help.
After my second Variety Bash, I decided to buy and build my very own bash car in 2022: The SPYKODORE! My goal was to raise as much money as possible to help.
Over $20,000.00 was raised and donated to Variety in 2022 and I was super proud of our community efforts, especially the fishing community!
In 2023 $33,000.00 raised raised which is absolutely phenomenal! I hope to help positively impact many more families with the funds we raise.
2024 is the 40th Anniversary for the B to B Bash and we are recreating the original route up the east coast and back! – over 6,500 km this year where we will visit the schools and families supported by Variety’s funding.
Your help, however big or small, means a lot and the kids truly appreciate it.
