What it takes to join the fun

  • "P" Plates are acceptable but Learners Permits are not acceptable.
  • Come on your own, or even better, bring your mates.

Cost of Entry

Your entry of $2,500 is a donation to Variety – the Children’s Charity NSW/ACT and is tax-deductible. This can be a cash payment or you can raise it through sponsorship, donations from family and friends and/or fundraising events.

A $500 non-refundable donation is required on entry to secure your place. Minimum Donation amounts must be paid into Variety 2 months prior to the start of the event.

As well as the entry fee there will be a provisions fee. Your provision fee is confirmed closer to the event and as an example, 2024 provisions fee was around $450 inc gst. It covers all mandatory meals for the event except where stated as well as selected merchandise, signage and support services during the event.

Accommodation is at the individual’s expense. We cut down the work for you and provide all our riders a list of accommodation options. You can then book your own accommodation based on your comfort level and budget.

What bike can I bring?

  • To enter this event you need a roadworthy, registered “Adventure Motorbike“. If you are unsure about whether your motorbike is appropriate, contact the Variety Motoring Events team.
  • The event will be run on public roads and all bikes must have current registration and appropriate insurance for the entire event. We would advise that you cover your bike for third party property damage at a minimum. We will require a photocopy of your current registration and insurance papers to keep on file before you are eligible to commence the event.

What to wear

  • All riders must have appropriate riding gear including helmet, pants, jacket and gloves as essential items.
  • You need to wear good riding gear. We recommend you bring some items for colder or wet conditions and others for when conditions are warmer because weather conditions can vary drastically and unfortunately things don’t always go to plan.

Accommodation details

  • Entrants shall book their own accommodation on the nights indicated in the route. There are a range of accommodation styles to suit everyone’s tastes and budgets. In some towns accommodation is limited and availability is not guaranteed.
  • If you have difficulty booking in any towns, please contact the Motoring Events team.

How much do I fundraise?

  • Entrants must raise a minimum fundraising amount of $2,500 for Variety to enter the Variety Adventure Ride. However, you don’t need to stop there! Every dollar you raise will go towards helping kids in need.
  • You will have access to a range of fundraising tools to help you reach your target.
  • Riders get to see the direct impact of their fundraising efforts along the way, with a range of educational, health and mobility equipment provided to local schools and organisations enroute.
