I'm taking part in the Variety Adventure Ride to help give kids a fair go!

I'm taking my adventure bike and will be hitting the road in September on the Variety Adventure Ride, all in support of Variety – the Children’s Charity!

Throughout the event, we’ll be visiting local towns but before I can get the bike out on the road I want to raise funds to give kids in need a fair go. Variety continues to support kids, families and communities in NSW/ACT throughout the year with funds raised from the Variety Adventure Ride.

It's going to be an extraordinary trip. Please give whatever you can to this important cause. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!

Monday 10th Aug
Just spent the last two weekends putting my minimalist camping setup to the test. Sub-zero temperatures the first time, and blustery conditions this weekend 🥶
The good news? Nothing broke ✅ The bad news? A wombat up at Mt Buller gave me some serious grief by trying to excavate my tent pegs in the middle of the night!
Between surviving the elements (and local wildlife) and some incredible support from my work, I’ve officially cracked $2,100 raised for the Variety Children’s Charity! The gear is holding up, the training is coming together, and we are moving forward.

Sunday 2nd Aug
Shoutout to Mum for chipping in and getting me even closer to the fundraising goal ❤️
While she’s helping from home, I’m out in the hills today putting my camping setup to the test. Fully loaded up the bike to see how everything packs down. I’ve got some icy roads on the way and a brisk night ahead that will definitely test the limited gear I can squeeze onto the bike, but that’s all part of it.
Truth is, I’ll be sleeping rough every night on this 6-day Variety Children’s Charity Adventure Ride. Why? Because these kids don’t choose their circumstances, and I want to make a point: when we voluntarily opt for hardship like this, we can just as easily opt out at any time. That’s the real difference between people who are genuinely doing it tough and the comfortable lives most of us lead.
Let’s dig deep and put some donations toward a very worthy cause. Every bit helps us cross the line.

Turning it up a notch!

Saturday 18th Jul
Today was the toughest day of training in the dirt by far. We battled 4WD tracks covered in fog thick mud, rocks, ruts, and some steep, sketchy hill climbs. There was even a few water crossings thrown in for good measure!
My gear and the bike took a proper beating, but that’s exactly the prep I need for the Rally.
Back at it tomorrow! 🏍️💨

Gettin’ amongst it!

Monday 13th Jul
Today was definitely not the kind of weather you’d normally pick for a ride 🥶 but I’ve been making a few tweaks to the bike and you just don’t know how it’s gonna go until you get out and put it to the test. 

Everything held together, which is always a relief, but there’s definitely still some fine-tuning to do… need to adjust the beam on these new spotlights, move the switch somewhere that it doesn’t get in the way, and play with the ergonomics to get my stand up position dialed in for off-road riding 🏍️

Massive thanks to Jaime Olguin for helping me make it happen; every hour in the saddle between now and the rally is crucial!

I’ve known Jono for a long time (he was actually the ring bearer at my wedding!) so having him involved in this journey means a lot to me personally. He’s stepped up in a big way for the cause, and he’s officially locked in #33 for the Rally 🔥

Big milestone reached! I’ve officially cracked the $1,000 mark for the Variety Adventure Ride. 🏍️💨
A massive thank you to Robyn Keegan, Michelle Smith, Darren Atkinson and our anonymous donor (Robyn!) for the support—it’s honestly humbling to see this coming together.
To keep the momentum going, I’m doing something a bit different: the next person to donate to my page will get to choose the double-digit number (between 10–99) that I’ll be rocking on my bike for the entire 6-day event!

Day 2 of training done and dusted 🏍️

Sunday 21st Jun
Spent the day out in the bush with the crew from @ridgelineadv.com, and it was a massive step up from my last session. We had plenty of challenges navigating the slick terrain, but it was the perfect way to test the bike and my own skills ahead of the Variety Children’s Charity Adventure Ride in September. 

It’s great to get the miles in, but even better to know that every bit of this preparation is for a good cause ❤️

Huge thanks to Drew and James at Ridgeline ADV tours for the guidance today—definitely put the bike through its paces!

I’m riding to help Variety – the Children’s Charity give kids a fair go, and since having my own little ones, this mission hits home more than ever.
